General Position Summary
This is a 9-month, full-time position. Instructors may be assigned classes at any of the four River Parishes Community College campuses (Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St. Charles), as determined by student need and institutional demand. Teaching needs may include face-to-face/online and/or evening classes. Full-time faculty are expected to actively serve on campus committees, participate in campus activities, and participate in student advising and recruitment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in economics OR master’s degree (in any discipline) and 18 graduate semester hours in economics. Official transcripts must be submitted.
- Preference given to applicants who can also be credentialed to teach other BUSN and/or CPTR courses: BUSN: Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) OR master’s degree (in any discipline) with 18 graduate semester hours in one or any combination of the following fields: business, entrepreneurship, finance, management, marketing. Official transcripts must be submitted.
- CPTR: Master's degree in computer science, information systems, information/education technology, or business-related discipline OR Master’s degree (in any discipline) AND one or more computer science, information systems, or information/education technology certification(s). Official transcripts must be submitted.
Background Check
- Satisfactory background check – an offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
Preferred Experience
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
Proficiencies
- Proficiencies in classroom technologies (podium computer, laptop, iPad, and SMARTBoard) and use of Canvas LMS Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with diverse student populations.

Full Time Faculty Job Responsibilities
- I. TEACHING AND DIRECT INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIESPerform all instructional responsibilities in accordance with the role, scope, and mission of the College. Adhere to designated schedule of classes and office hours. Attend and provide meaningful instruction for all class sessions during the semester. Create and maintain an environment conducive to learning and one in which all students are treated equitably and with respect. Develop, distribute, and explain to all students within the first week of class, the course outline, expectations, grading system, attendance policy, etc. Ensure adequate time is devoted to class preparation. Utilize a variety of teaching and assessment methods. Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and evaluation instruments. Utilize technology as approved/required by the college.
- II. SERVICE TO STUDENTS, DEPARTMENT, DIVISION OR COLLEGE, COMMUNITYContribute to the assessment of program student learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum review, development, and revision. Serve as a resource for students in pursuit of employment or advanced educational opportunities. Support dissemination of information to prospective students. Support student success through academic advising, mentoring, tutoring. Attend/participate in RPCC Commencement Ceremony. Participate in teaching discipline specific program advisory committee meetings. Demonstrate commitment to effective communication.
- III. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTParticipate in college in-service programs and professional development. Develop and follow-through on an individualized professional development plan. Complete all academic and occupational credential requirements. Complete all College, system, and state mandated training.
- IV. LEADERSHIPRefer to expectations outlined in approved contract/job description.
- V. OTHERAdhere to all RPCC and LCTCS policies and procedures. Perform other duties assigned by college/campus administrators. Always represent the College in a professional and positive image.
