Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to join the OD Family. This role ensures safe, efficient loading and unloading of freight, and supports warehouse operations while upholding our promise of on-time deliveries and a team-driven culture.

The dockworker will operate forklifts and manual techniques, secure freight with airbags, straps and cardboard, and read shipping labels. You will follow DOT guidelines, use the Dock Yard Management System, and stay flexible to meet

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Must have working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must be available for work at all times to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.
• Must have the ability to operate a handheld tablet.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms such as shipping orders and manifests.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms used in freight movement.
• Secure freight inside trailers using straps, air bags and other securing materials.
• Ensure the quality loading of all trailers and proper securing of freight.
