Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dockworker in Medley, FL to load and unload freight safely using forklifts and manual methods, ensuring proper securing and accurate handling to support on-time deliveries. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and knowledge of freight procedures and loading techniques.

You will work in a fast-paced service center with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and reliability, contributing to OD's promise of customer service and career growth within the OD

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have working knowledge of procedures surrounding all aspects of freight transportation.
• Must have knowledge of different loading techniques such as loading tight and cross loading.
• Familiarity with forms utilized in freight movement such as shipping orders, bills and manifests.
• Ability to monitor shipment locations via dock yard management system.
• Must be able to meet customer pickup/delivery schedules.
• Must be able to operate handheld tablet.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually.
• Transport yourself and freight within the service center.
• Use Dock Yard Management System to monitor freight locations.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms.
• Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Maintain safety and meet deadlines.
