Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for a school setting in Cullman, AL. In this role you will empower students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through specialized instruction, collaboration with educators, and support that drives academic success and communication growth.

You will develop and implement IEPs, conduct assessments, and collaborate with speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with endorsement in Hearing Impairment.
• Knowledge of hearing impairments, language development, and instructional strategies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with students who are Deaf or hard of hearing preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions.
• Support development of communication skills, including spoken language and sign language.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum.
• Coordinate with related service providers (audiologists, SLPs).
• Provide staff training on hearing loss accommodations.
• Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
• Maintain documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies.
• All other duties as assigned.
