Job summary

Milton Hershey School (MHS) seeks married couples to join as Full-time Flex Houseparents. Couples live in on-campus student homes, supervising 8–13 students and guiding academic, emotional, and social development. The role follows a 9 days on / 3 days off cycle, transitioning to a Placed Houseparent in time.

Both spouses must apply individually; the position offers salary plus housing and comprehensive benefits. A challenging, rewarding career with a strong community focus.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth or volunteers.
• Two-person role for couples married at least two years.
• Both spouses aged 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children in the home.
• Campus is smoke-free and weapon-free; alcohol not allowed on duty.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; able to get certification to drive student vans.
• Comfort leading daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (no proselytizing).
• Pet restrictions: fish and one dog of approved breeds only.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff are role models.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and mentorship to students.
• Manage household routines and student schedules.
• Administer medications and monitor student wellness.
• Transport students to activities and engage in developmental/recreational activities.
• Lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel.
• Oversee budgeting and household reporting.
