Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a dining services team member in Mechanicsville, VA. Prepare meals, maintain sanitation, and follow resident dietary needs with supervision from the Dining Services Director.

Responsibilities include training new staff, reporting equipment issues, and supporting safe, efficient meal service during various shifts; strong teamwork and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in dining services
• Serv-Safe certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days
• Ability to read, write and perform simple calculations
• Ability to learn quickly and apply new principles
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Experience in food preparation and estimating quantities
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
• Ability to stand long periods and tolerate temperature extremes

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times
• Participate in weekly cleaning routines
• Report faulty equipment and broken or chipped items to supervisor
• Record refrigerator and freezer temperatures twice daily
• Ensure leftovers are cooled, stored, labeled and dated
• Observe safety practices and monitor portion sizes
• Take temperatures three times daily
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of Dining Services Director
• Assist in training new dietary employees
• Attend required in-service and staff meetings
• Adapt menus with approval of Dining Services Director
• Be courteous to residents, visitors and staff
• Follow confidentiality policies
• Understand resident dietary needs
