Job description

Join to apply for the Full Time Cook role at Harmony Senior Services.

The Cook prepares meals according to approved menus and recipes, considering the dietary needs of residents. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, the cook supervises dietary staff to ensure efficient kitchen operation.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Prepare and present menu items according to recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the work area.
  • Participate in cleaning routines and report equipment issues.
  • Monitor food temperatures and store leftovers properly.
  • Ensure safety practices and control food waste.
  • Assist with menu substitutions with approval.
  • Supervise duties to ensure readiness for meal service.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete assigned duties.

Residents:

  • Familiarize with residents' dietary requests and monitor changes.
  • Maintain courteous interactions and confidentiality.

Staff:

  • Supervise dietary staff in absence of senior staff.
  • Assist in training and conduct in-services.
  • Attend all required meetings.

Requirements:

  • Experience in dining services and Serv-Safe certification or willingness to obtain it within 60 days.
  • Understanding of food service operations and safety principles.
  • Ability to read, write, calculate, and follow instructions.
  • Experience in food prep, cooking, and estimating quantities.
  • Physical ability to stand, lift, and handle equipment.
  • Work in a team, maintain hygiene, and work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
