Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is seeking a PennDOT CDL Operator to support highway maintenance and safe travel. You will operate trucks and heavy equipment, perform pre/post checks, and help keep roadways safe for the traveling public.

This is a full-time, non-civil service position based in Perry County. You will join a team that relies on reliability, safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program or CDL training, or equivalent.
• Active Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Restriction removed.
• Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during probationary period and actively maintained.
• Medical Examiner's Certificate required under FMCSA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders and other equipment used in highway maintenance.
• Perform daily pre- and post-operation checks and maintain CDL credentials.
• Carry out flagging duties to ensure safe traffic flow during work.
• Use hand and power tools for routine maintenance and repairs.
• Assist with equipment care and minor repairs; follow safety procedures.
