Job summary

Southern Auto Group in Newport News, VA, is seeking an Automotive Express/Quick Lube Technician for a Chevy location in Western Branch. This full-time role offers full-time benefits and a path to ASE certification.

Responsibilities include oil changes, inspections, and maintaining high customer service standards. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, post-secondary automotive training or equivalent experience, and ASE certification (or willingness to obtain).

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience.
Experience in service departments preferred.
ASE certification (or is willing to obtain certification).
Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record.
Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles a plus.
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
Highly professional and dependable.
Safety and customer service-oriented.
Basic computer and internet skills.
Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed.

Responsibilities

Diagnoses appropriate oil and filters for proper car maintenance.
Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs.
Maintains cleanliness of vehicle exterior while performing oil changes.
Report any visible issues or concerns to the appointed Service Advisor.
Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards.
Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs in an efficient manner by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions.
Follows all shop policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules.
Attends all staff meetings, training, and educational classes as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
