Job summary

Sylvania seeks an Afternoon Custodian to support Hamilton Elementary and Madison Elementary in maintaining clean and orderly school facilities. This full-time, second-shift role covers classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas, with emphasis on safe operation of cleaning equipment.

The position requires the ability to lift heavy loads, regular attendance, and knowledge of cleaning methods. Compensation is hourly, with benefits as stated in the terms.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
• Have knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures and be able to use cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain designated areas including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Utilize various cleaning equipment, including vacuums, auto scrubbers, and floor restoration equipment; ensure proper maintenance.
• Assist the Building Supervisor with other tasks such as minor repairs, event setup, or inventory management.
• Care for outdoor areas including landscaping, trash removal, and snow removal as directed.
• Assist with cleaning during and after the lunch program.
• Adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Identify and report maintenance or safety issues promptly to the Building Supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned by the Building Supervisor.
