Job summary

Hidden Level is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Syracuse, NY. You will work on software components across the stack, leveraging Python, Flask, Linux and SQL to build secure, scalable tools.

You will collaborate with engineers to design solutions, review code, and document architectures while gaining hands-on R&D experience in RF sensing and airspace tech for defense and commercial use cases.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in CS/Software Eng or related, with strong programming background
• Sophomore year completed or greater by Summer 2027
• GPA 3.4+ with unofficial transcripts acceptable
• Proficiency with Python
• Experience on Linux platforms
• Familiarity with SQL databases (Postgres, MySQL) and database design
• Understanding of protocols such as ZeroMQ, SSH, HTTP and TLS
• Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and best practices

Responsibilities

Full Stack Software Engineering Intern – Summer 2027

We design, manufacture, and deploy advanced sensor systems that deliver real-time insights for defense and commercial applications.

Position Overview

As we expand, we're looking for a Software Engineering Intern who is interested in solving challenging problems in Counter Unmanned Airborne Systems (C-UAS) and Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM).

Location

Learn, innovate, and grow alongside the team! This internship is onsite in Syracuse, NY, offering hands‑on R&D experience and opportunities to collaborate closely with experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of software components across our full stack, leveraging AWS services, Python, Flask, and SQL databases
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and implement features
• Improve on and expand the capabilities of our existing enterprise tools and customer facing‑products, ensuring secure seamless communication and data synchronization
• Participate in collaborative design and code reviews.
• Document and clearly communicate designs to peers
• Test and validate designs to ensure proper and bug free operation

Required Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program pursuing Computer Science or Software Engineering, or a Bachelor’s Degree program in Computer or Electrical Engineering with a strong programming background
• Completed Sophomore year or greater by Summer 2027
• A minimum grade point average of 3.4. Recent transcript is required with application (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
• Proficiency with Python
• Experience using and developing on Linux platforms
• Understanding of SQL databases (Postgres, MySQL) and database design principles
• Familiarity with protocols like ZeroMQ, SSH, HTTP and TLS
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and implementation best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and Lambdas
• Proficiency with or willingness to learn C++
• Experience with or a desire to learn about distributed sensor networks

Hourly Rate Range

The hourly rate range for this position is estimated at $23 to $26 per hour. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Hidden Level considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
