Job summary

Smartsheet is hiring a Software Engineer II in the United States to help build the next generation of our platform with Kotlin and Java. You will tackle distributed systems challenges while collaborating with product managers and engineers to drive architectural decisions and code quality.

You will mentor junior engineers, partner with product teams, and actively apply AI tools to improve team productivity across coding, testing, design and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years software development experience building scalable, highly available applications.
• 2+ years programming with Java, Kotlin or TypeScript.
• 2+ years cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs.
• 6+ months AI experience to improve productivity in SaaS features.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent.
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable back-end services for the next generation of applications (Kotlin, Java).
• Address distributed systems challenges and work with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions with engineers and PMs.
• Mentor junior engineers on code quality and best practices.
• Forge partnerships with product management and key business areas.
• Use AI tools to improve personal and team efficiency across coding, testing, design, and troubleshooting.
