Job summary

Jobot is seeking a hands-on Full-Charge Bookkeeper / Senior Accountant in Bethesda, MD to support the custom homes and general contracting division. You will own the full accounting cycle, manage AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting in a small, collaborative office.

The role offers hybrid work with 1–2 days in the Bethesda office, and a culture that values practical improvements and ownership of processes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of full-cycle accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience.
• Recent Sage 300 or comparable recent Sage ERP experience is required.
• Experience in construction, custom home building, general contracting, real estate development, or a related industry.
• Strong experience with AP, AR, payroll, payroll taxes, reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end close.
• Experience maintaining the general ledger and preparing financial reports.
• Ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities for a business unit or small company.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for the custom homes/construction division
• Process accounts payable, vendor payments, and accounts receivable
• Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities
• Complete bank and account reconciliations
• Process payroll and payroll tax filings for approximately 10 employees and contractors
• Process ACH payments and assist with cash management
• Support tax reporting and compliance activities
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Assist with construction-related accounting and general contracting activities
• Work closely with ownership and accounting leadership on financial reporting
• Organize and clean up accounting files
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows
• Help bring greater structure and efficiency to existing accounting procedures
