Job summary

The Tank Welder at Gulf Island LLC in Houma, LA supports the fabrication and assembly of enclosure components, specifically generator enclosure fuel tanks and assemblies that support large-scale generators. You will weld sheet metal, read blueprints, and follow detailed instructions to ensure leak-free, code-compliant welds in outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in welding.
• Must pass 3G/4G welding test.
• Must pass a pressure test.
• Must read blueprints.
• Must read and use a tape measure.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions with exposure to fumes (with proper respiratory protection).
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Weld sheet metal components for fuel tank fabrication to ensure leak-free performance.
• Operate welding equipment and hand tools.
• Read and interpret measurements from a tape measure.
• Prepare materials by measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, beveling and fitting components to tolerances.
• Follow blueprints and work instructions to complete welding projects as specified.
• Lift and maneuver metal components safely.
• Conduct pressure tests and ensure weld quality and safety.
• Perform visual weld checks and assist with rework.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with PPE requirements.
• Collaborate with team to meet daily production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
