Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking a Tank Welder to support fabrication of generator enclosure fuel tanks and related assemblies in Houma, LA. You will weld sheet metal, read plans, mark, cut and fit components to tight tolerances, and ensure leak-free containment for diesel fuel.

You will operate grinders, saws, and welding equipment, follow blueprints, and perform pressure tests, visual weld checks, and safety procedures. Team-focused job with daily targets; background checks and drug screen required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years welding experience.
• Must pass a 3G/4G welding test.
• Must pass a pressure test.
• Must read and interpret blueprints.
• Must read and use a tape measure.
• Able to work with PPE and respiratory protection.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Must pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Weld sheet metal components for fuel tank fabrication with focus on diesel containment.
• Read and interpret measurements, fit and assemble parts to tolerances.
• Follow detailed blueprints and work instructions to complete welding projects.
• Lift and maneuver components and maintain safe handling.
• Perform pressure tests and visual weld inspections; report defects.
