Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking a Tank Welder to support fabrication of generator enclosure fuel tanks and assemblies. The role requires welding on sheet metal, reading blueprints, and performing pressure tests to ensure leak-free containment.

You will work with grinders, tape measures, and cranes, following detailed drawings to meet tight tolerances and safety standards. Night shifts and pre-employment screenings are required, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 1+ years welding experience.
• Must pass 3G/4G welding test.
• Must pass a pressure test.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be able to read and use a tape measure.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions with PPE.
• Must be able to work night shift.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Must pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on sheet metal components used in fuel tank fabrication for diesel containment.
• Read and interpret measurements with a tape measure and blueprints.
• Prepare materials by measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, beveling and fitting.
• Follow detailed work instructions to complete welding projects as per specs.
• Lift and maneuver metal components; ensure safe handling of materials.
• Perform pressure tests and visual weld checks; report defects and rework as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with PPE requirements.
• Collaborate with team to meet daily production goals.
