Job summary

City of Lubbock is seeking an automotive mechanic to perform basic repairs, replace/repair fuel systems, and maintain City fuel sites for vehicles and equipment. The role includes on-call duties for fuel issues and some vehicle up-fitting and auction support.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of automotive experience, valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Class-B CDL within six months; knowledge of fuel management and fleet management software is

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years automotive experience required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Ability to obtain Class-B CDL within six months.
• UST A/B operator certification preferred.
• Airport Security Identification Badge may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on City vehicles and equipment.
• Repair and overhaul fuel systems on City assets.
• Maintain City fuel sites and dispense fuel when necessary.
• Receive fuel deliveries and monitor inventories.
• Diagnose and repair cooling, heating, and air conditioning systems.
• Assist with vehicle up-fitting and auction duties.
• Respond to fuel site issues during day and on-call nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform related duties as required.
