Job summary

City of Lubbock is seeking an entry-level Automotive Maintenance Assistant who will learn to assist technicians with routine repair and preventive maintenance tasks on automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment. The role involves data collection for productivity reports and basic shop support under supervision.

Responsibilities include vehicle movement, decal removal, make-ready prep, parts tracking, and helping with monthly inventory.

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one year of experience in automotive repair and maintenance.
Valid TX Driver's License.
Basic auto service and repair capabilities.
Ability to use pneumatic tools and tire machine.
Effective communication with others.

Responsibilities

Assist technicians repairing automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
Perform basic maintenance work under supervision.
Move vehicles to and from the auction lot, the Radio Shop, and vendor locations.
Strip vehicles of decals and prepare for auction.
Help with the fleet make-ready process and vehicle accessories.
Track and receive parts deliveries; assist with inventory.
Support Parts staff in monthly inventory and ordering.
Assist Administrative Staff in maintaining motor pool vehicles.
Clean, sweep, and wash the shop floor as needed.
Perform related duties as directed.
