Job summary

CSA Group in Irvine, CA seeks a Fuel Systems Technical Specialist to drive growth and deliver field evaluations of large-scale fuel-fired equipment and combustion systems.

You will develop new service offerings, work with clients and engineering teams, and stay current on hydrogen and alternative fuels. Travel about 10% to client sites and industry events. A mechanical/energy engineering background and proven experience with boilers, burners, gas turbines, and safety standards are required.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field.
• Six+ years of relevant industry experience preferred.
• Experience with large-scale fuel-fired equipment, combustion systems, or fuel infrastructure.
• Familiarity with safety codes and standards (CSA, ANSI, ASME, NFPA).
• Background in hydrogen, alternative fuels, or emerging combustion tech is a plus.
• Experience in TIC industry, field evaluations, or conformity assessment is an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication for stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Market and Business Development to expand fuel systems services in commercial/industrial markets.
• Develop and enhance technical service offerings for fuel-fired equipment and infrastructure.
• Serve as subject matter expert on fuel systems and combustion applications.
• Research regulatory requirements, safety codes, testing protocols and emerging technologies.
• Prepare technical scopes, estimate resources, and support project quotations.
• Coordinate with operations to ensure quality and safety in field evaluations.
• Forecast workforce needs based on market growth and new technologies.
• Represent CSA Group at industry events and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Travel approximately 10% for client meetings and industry events.
