Creative Dining Services is seeking an experienced line cook for the Saint Louis, MO campus to join a dynamic dining team. You will prepare meals, handle batch production, and maintain logs and temperatures to ensure food safety and quality on a busy college campus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items according to established recipes and menus.
• Utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over- or under-production.
• Maintain established logs (food temperatures, cooling temperatures, cooler & freezer temperatures, etc.).
• Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Open/close kitchen as needed (unlocking/locking doors; turning on/off equipment).
• Hold prepared food items at correct temperatures (below 40° for cold, above 135° for hot).
• Store food items with proper labeling and dating.
• Communicate needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor.

Salary Range: $19.00 To $23.00 Hourly

We are looking for friendly, experienced food service professionals to complete our line cook team, serving great food to hungry students using state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Our staff enjoy paid holidays, opportunities for training and advancement and time off between semesters to spend with family and friends during the winter holidays, and much more.

Availability:

full time (30+ hours/week), with flexible schedules available. We do serve meals 7-days a week on the college campus, so some evenings and weekend brunch shifts will be required.

Core Responsibilities:

• Prepare food items according to established recipes and menus in a manner in which preserves food freshness, quality and appeal
• Utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over- or under-production
• Maintain established logs (food temperatures, cooling temperatures, cooler & freezer temperatures, etc.)
• Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report any discrepancies to supervisor immediately
• If work shift requires, properly open and/or close the kitchen – unlocking/locking doors & secured areas, and turning on/turning off of all equipment essential to the operation
• Hold prepared food items at appropriate temperatures (below 40° if cold, above 135° if hot)
• Store food items according to established standards of practice; utilize proper labeling and dating
• Communicate needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor appropriately, and in a timely manner

Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
