Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
- Oversee daily labor management and coach associates to meet productivity expectations.
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Brand Strategy and Culture.
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
- Maintain a positive shopping environment with excellent customer service, ensuring a friendly and efficient customer experience.
- Model outstanding customer service and use department knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations.
- Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, and inventory systems effectively.
- Ensure department appearance, quality, safety, and sanitation are maintained consistently.
- Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules biweekly to ensure excellent customer service.
- Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Record and report all accidents following established procedures.
- Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses.
- Ensure proper use of advertising and promotional materials.
- Adhere to all company policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Maintain security standards and personal appearance according to dress code.
- Complete required training courses successfully.
- Meet physical requirements of the role, with or without accommodations.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lead and manage a team.
- Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
- Ability to solve problems using technical information.
- Minimum age requirements must be met.
- Certification as a Food Safety Manager by the National Registry or similar organization required within 90 days of employment, maintained during employment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate computers and communication systems.
- Push or pull up to 2000 lbs using a pallet jack.
- Lift and handle products weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Stand continuously, with frequent walking.
- Handle cleaning and packaging substances.
- Perform repetitive motions and reach at various heights.
- Work in extreme temperatures for periods of time.
- Visual ability to read documents.
