Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
  2. Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  3. Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
  4. Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  5. Create a positive shopping experience by maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service.
  6. Model outstanding, friendly customer service and utilize product knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  7. Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment.
  8. Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems, including understanding and using the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS).
  9. Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  10. Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written biweekly to provide excellent customer service.
  11. Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise in accordance with policies.
  12. Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  13. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and record all accidents accordingly.
  14. Monitor shrink and provide coaching to prevent inventory losses.
  15. Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials properly.
  16. Adhere to company policies, standards, and security protocols.
  17. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and comply with dress code.
  18. Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the role.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Leadership and team management skills.
  3. Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
  4. Effective communication and customer service skills.
  5. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical skills.
  6. Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  7. Must meet minimum age requirements and be certified as a Food Safety Manager within 90 days of employment, maintaining certification thereafter.
Physical Requirements
  1. Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  2. Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack.
  3. Lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
  4. Push/pull up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  5. Stand continuously, with frequent walking.
  6. Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  7. Perform repetitive motions and reach at various heights.
  8. Work in extreme temperatures for short periods.
  9. Sufficient visual ability to check documents.
