Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates
- Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training and conduct formal performance appraisals for direct reports
- Manage labor expectations daily and coach associates to achieve productivity goals
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operational results
- Create a positive shopping environment with fast, friendly, and flexible customer service
- Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations
- Control store expenses through proper ordering, supplies, and equipment care
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, productivity, and business information systems
- Maintain department appearance, quality, safety, sanitation, and food safety standards
- Write schedules to ensure excellent customer service at all times
- Understand scheduling, sales, projections, hiring, training, and all other department management tasks
- Ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies
- Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
- Record and report accidents following procedures
- Manage shrinkage and inventory control, coaching staff to prevent losses
- Ensure advertising and signage are properly utilized
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Follow company policies and maintain security standards
- Complete required training courses
- Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback to promote customer satisfaction and sales
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Understanding of store operations preferred
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
- Problem-solving skills using technical information
- Leadership ability to direct others
- Must meet minimum age requirements
- Ability to meet physical requirements with or without accommodations
- Certification as Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days
Physical Requirements
- Proficiency with computers and communication systems
- Ability to use handheld computers for orders and inventory
- Stand and walk frequently
- Push or pull up to 2000 pounds with equipment
- Perform repetitive motions
- Lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 100 lbs. occasionally
- Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely
- Reach, grasp, and work in temperature extremes
- Sufficient visual ability for reading invoices and documents
