Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Ensure a positive shopping experience through enthusiastic customer service, focusing on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service.
  • Model outstanding customer service and use knowledge of department products to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, supplies, and equipment care.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Create and manage Deli Bakery HMS schedules to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Manage ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and report accidents as per procedures.
  • Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach associates to prevent losses.
  • Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials effectively.
  • Adhere to company policies, guidelines, and security standards.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and complete required training courses.
  • Meet physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  • Minimum age requirements met.
  • Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate computers and communication systems.
  • Push/pull up to 2000 lbs. with equipment.
  • Lift up to 15-50 lbs. regularly.
  • Stand and walk extensively.
  • Handle substances related to cleaning and packaging.
  • Perform repetitive motions and reach at various heights.
  • Tolerate working in extreme temperatures for periods.
  • Sufficient visual ability to check documents.
