Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, supervising all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
- Oversee daily labor management and coach associates to achieve productivity expectations.
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
- Create a positive shopping environment focused on fast, easy, friendly customer service.
- Model outstanding, friendly customer service and utilize product knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations.
- Control store expenses through proper ordering, supplies, and equipment care.
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, and business information systems.
- Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written bi-weekly to provide exceptional customer service.
- Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and report accidents accordingly.
- Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses.
- Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials effectively.
- Adhere to all company policies, standards, and security protocols.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with dress code.
- Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the role.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of store operations and merchandising preferred.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical aspects of the job.
- Ability to solve problems using technical information.
- Must meet age requirements and be certified as a Food Safety Manager within 90 days of employment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate computers and communication systems.
- Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack.
- Lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
- Stand continuously and walk short distances.
- Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
- Perform repetitive motions and reach above/below waist level.
- Work in extreme temperatures for limited periods.
- Sufficient visual ability to check documents.
