Job summary

North Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Cat B driver to join the Integrated Transport Solutions team, supporting school transport and demand response services. The role involves field work with remote collaboration, and training will be provided to obtain taxi driver licencing.

You will operate fleet vehicles per planned schedules, ensuring quality service and safety. The position offers flexible arrangements and opportunities for professional development within local government.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-focused taxi or transport services.
• Ability to operate ticket machines and ICT equipment.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Current Category B driving licence; taxi licence certificate preferred.
• Training to become licensed taxi driver will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily work instructions are acknowledged and plans for deployment are prepared.
• Deliver front line services per journey plan, timetable or manifest with a customer-focused approach.
• Report issues or client experiences per protocols and schedule, noting incidents.
• Use ICT systems and ticket machines to monitor service quality.
• Position, collect and return council vehicles from multiple locations.
• Support maintenance of council assets and transport infrastructure.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Report near-misses or damage from incidents.
