Job summary

The City of Bristol Tennessee is hiring a Transit Driver I to transport citizens on fixed or customized routes, with a focus on safe, courteous service. This entry-level role includes pre-trip/post-trip inspections, customer service, and daily logs.

Under the Transit Crew Chief or Manager, you will participate in paid training and development opportunities, ensuring compliance with regulations and vehicle standards, and contributing to a team-oriented culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years’ experience in public transportation or related work.
• CDL Class C with Passenger Endorsement and Air Brake Endorsement.
• Customer Service Skills.
• Basic First Aid and CPR training within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Operates transportation vehicles safely, following routes and schedules.
• Assist passengers, including those with special needs, on and off vehicles.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and reports issues.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of vehicles.
• Provides excellent customer service and responds to inquiries.
• Completes daily logs and basic reports of activities.
• Follows city, state, and federal transit regulations.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
