BRC in New York City is seeking a dedicated staff member to monitor a residential program for people experiencing homelessness, ensuring a safe, supportive environment. You will conduct rounds, assist with screening at the front door, and respond to emergencies with calm, professional conduct.

The role emphasizes reporting through logs and incident notes, coordinating fire safety drills, and helping with meals, inspections, and maintaining an orderly facility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification required.
• NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or ability to obtain certification required.
• NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; willingness to acquire certification.
• Security guard license preferred; willingness to acquire license.
• Food Handler Certificate preferred; willingness to acquire certification.
• TB clearance when required.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; strong written and verbal communication; professional boundaries; basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Monitor a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform rounds and address varied needs of residents; manage conflict with safety and trust.
• Screen residents and visitors at front door; prepare logs, incident reports and progress notes.
• Manage inventory for supplies; conduct fire safety drills and logs; provide emergency first aid/CPR/NARCAN as needed.
• Assist with inspections/audits; escort clients; serve meals; keep the facility orderly and clean.
