Job summary

BRC is seeking a dedicated security/support professional to monitor a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness in New York City. You will engage residents with empathy while performing rounds and addressing their varied needs, ensuring safety, and building trust.

The role requires screening at the front door, thorough documentation, and prompt emergency response including CPR/NARCAN when needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
• NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
• NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
• Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license.
• Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
• TB clearance when required.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally; ability to maintain professional boundaries; basic computer literacy required. Bilingual abilities a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring the residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform rounds and engage individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner.
• Screen residents and visitors at the front door and create written documentation (logbook entries, incident reports, progress notes).
• Manage inventory for supplies and maintain fire safety drills and logs.
• Provide emergency first aid/CPR and NARCAN as needed; assist with inspections and audits.
• Escort clients and serve meals as needed; help maintain an orderly and clean facility.
