Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking staff to monitor a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, focusing on safety and engagement. You will perform rounds, de-escalate conflicts, screen residents and visitors, and create written records including logbook entries and incident reports.

Responsibilities include inventory management, fire safety drills, first aid/NARCAN when needed, inspections, and meal service while maintaining a clean facility. The role requires overtime.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; willingness to acquire.
  • Security guard license preferred; willingness to acquire license.
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; willingness to acquire.
  • TB clearance when required.
  • Experience with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; strong written and spoken communication; professional boundaries; basic computer literacy; bilingual abilities a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor residential program to maintain a safe environment.
  • Engage residents empathetically and perform rounds.
  • Screen residents and visitors at front door; document logbooks, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Manage supplies, conduct fire safety drills and logs, provide first aid/CPR/ naloxone when needed.
  • Assist with inspections and audits; escort clients and serve meals; maintain orderly facility.

Hours

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

  • Various evening & overnight schedules available
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license.
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • TB clearance when required.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally; ability to maintain professional boundaries; basic computer literacy required. Bilingual abilities a plus.
