Job summary

Idaho Department of Health & Welfare (IDHW) is seeking a Fingerprint Technician in Boise to provide fingerprinting services and customer support as a frontline staff member for the Background Check Unit. This role requires independence and discretion in handling sensitive applicant information.

You will collect fingerprints, review criminal history data, and assist applicants and employers with navigating the Background Check System in a fast-paced, customer-facing office environment.

Qualifications

• Experience monitoring record systems and correcting errors.
• Experience interpreting and applying laws, regulations, or policies; explaining decisions.
• Experience analyzing information from multiple sources to resolve issues.
• Experience dealing with individuals from diverse backgrounds in stressful situations.
• Experience entering and retrieving data in computerized records systems.
• Experience composing and proofreading business documents and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Collect fingerprints of applicants using a digital scanner.
• Review sensitive information related to applicant criminal history.
• Respond to applicant queries daily in person, by phone, email, or fax.
• Assist applicants and employers in navigating the Background Check System.
• Interface with internal and external customers with strong public relations.
• Display independence and discretion when handling sensitive information.
