Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Shelter Advocate to support emergency shelter operations. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, counseling, and conducting intakes and assessments to connect clients with needed services.

The role supports cooperative living agreements and works within a collaborative team to ensure safety and effective housing solutions. The position emphasizes caring for clients, flexible shifts, and the ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Educational experience in human services or equivalent life experiences.
• Prefer knowledge/experience with residential care settings.
• Prefer knowledge/experience in crisis intervention and/or crisis counseling.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing emergency shelter services, including crisis intervention and crisis counseling.
• Conduct intakes, assessments, and orientations; establish cooperative living agreements.
• Collaborate with a team to coordinate services and ensure safety and compliance.
