U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at entry and mid levels for full-time positions.

The agency offers competitive base pay, robust federal benefits, job stability, and incentives up to $20,000 with prioritized locations, plus potential up to $30,000 in retention incentives over three years. Duty locations span multiple sectors across the U.S., with promotion potential to GS-12.

Qualifications

• Experience: One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge and make sound decisions in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through training; to gather information via questioning, observation, and records.
• Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND college education submitted with your application.
• Note: If you have prior law enforcement or military experience you may qualify at higher grades.

Responsabilités

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and night-operations.
• Interpreting evidence of illegal entry and contraband; performing various checks and patrols.
• Patrolling the international boundary and waterways using a variety of assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
