U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) across multiple grades. The role offers base pay with federal employment benefits, and recruitment/retention incentives up to $50,000 combined, plus a structured training program at the CBP Academy.

Positions include duty locations nationwide; candidates may be assigned to priority locations with incentives, and applicants must meet citizenship, residency, and age requirements.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrates ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through training and/or on-the-job instruction; to gather information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders using surveillance and night-operations equipment.
• Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling borders and waterways using government assets to fulfill CBP missions.
