Job summary

VAST Data is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to be embedded with strategic customer environments. You will work with customer architects and operators to understand scale challenges, solve infrastructure issues, and drive product improvements.

You’ll own deployments from design through production, writing code and advocating for customers along the way. The role emphasizes collaboration, rapid problem solving, and direct impact on the data platform powering AI workloads.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a highly technical, engineering role with customer-facing collaboration.
• Ability to translate real-world requirements into product improvements.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex systems to executives and engineers.
• Highly organized, self-directed, and able to balance roadmap priorities with customer needs.
• Curiosity and willingness to quickly learn new technologies in a fast-evolving ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customer engineers to optimize infrastructure and throughput.
• Co-engineer solutions and translate insights into development requirements.
• Write code and scripts to unblock critical customer workflows.
• Advocate for customers and prioritize long-term technical needs in the roadmap.
• Travel to customer sites up to 25% to ensure successful deployments.
