Job summary

VAST Data is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with strategic customer environments and own technical success from design to production. You will work with customer architects and operators to optimize infrastructure, translate needs into product improvements, and develop automation tools and APIs.

The role requires deep distributed systems knowledge, Python/C++, and experience with Docker/Kubernetes in AI workloads, with travel to customer sites up to 25%.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in engineering roles with customer-facing work.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and storage concepts.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for enterprise-grade code.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and AI frameworks is desirable.
• Excellent communication, diplomacy and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customer teams to optimize infrastructure and resolve issues.
• Translate customer requirements into precise product improvements.
• Develop custom API endpoints, automation tools, or scripts for workflows.
• Address code review feedback from internal engineering teams on complex changes.
• Advocate for customers to shape the product roadmap.
