Job summary

CarGurus in Boston, MA is seeking a Software Development Engineer Intern to help build high-traffic consumer web apps across homepage, landing pages, and discovery surfaces. You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers, turning user needs into production software while learning modern frontend patterns and delivery workflows.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field with eligibility for a full‑time internship.
Fundamentals of web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP, RESTful APIs.
Experience with component‑based frameworks (React/Remix/TypeScript).
Strong eye for responsive, accessible UI and basic automated testing.

Responsibilities

Build, test, review, deploy, and support production features to enhance UI and personalization using JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
Translate product/design requirements into thoughtful UI behavior across browser routes and shared packages.
Run experiments and optimize user onboarding, registrations, and experiences across devices.
Collaborate across global markets (US, CA, UK) with product, design, backend, and platform teams.
Improve application performance and reliability via automated tests and observability.
