CarGurus is seeking a Software Development Engineer Intern for an 11-week Summer Internship in Boston, MA. This full-time program runs June through August 2027. The role uses a hybrid model with about three days in the Boston office each week.

You’ll work with Java, TypeScript, Python, and other technologies on a product engineering team, participate in design sessions, run quick experiments, and write clean, well-tested code to deliver practical solutions.

Qualificações

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with eligibility to complete a full-time internship.
• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, or Python and understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Able to work autonomously and in a team, with a desire to learn and take initiative.
• Bonus: exposure to AI coding tools, AWS, and front-end development with React/Remix.

Role overview

As a Software Development Engineer Intern, you will join an 11-week Summer Internship Program designed to give you hands-on experience, expand your professional network, and build core industry skills. This full-time opportunity (40 hours per week) runs from June through August 2027. CarGurus operates on a hybrid working model, and candidates should expect to work out of our Boston, MA office 60% of the time (approximately three days per week).

What you’ll do

• Work with Java, TypeScript, Python and other technologies to build applications, tooling, or microservices at CarGurus
• Work on a product engineering team with an engineering manager, product manager, and other engineers
• Participate in whiteboard sessions and design conversations on engineering the best solution to the challenges at hand
• Test out new insights with novel and quick experiments
• Write clean, well-tested, and efficient code

What you’ll bring

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with eligibility to complete a full-time internship.
• You have coded with a high-order programming language such as Java, JavaScript, or Python, and studied algorithms and data structures
• You work well autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment
• You are eager to learn and expand your capabilities
• You care about quality of design as well as have a bias toward action
• Bonus: Exposure to AI coding tools, AWS, and front-end development experience (e.g. JavaScript, React, and Remix)

The displayed range represents the expected hourly rate for this position.

The displayed range represents the expected annual base salary / On-Target Earnings (OTE) for this position. On-Target Earnings (OTE) is inclusive of base salary and on-target commission earnings, which applies exclusively to sales roles.

Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and other factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

This annual base salary forms part of a comprehensive Total Rewards Package. In addition to benefits, this role may qualify for discretionary bonuses/incentives and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Position Pay Range

$35—$35 USD
