Job summary

Muon Space is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Frontend team, delivering the mission command platform across satellite operations and customer tools. You will scale the team, promote a product-minded frontend org, and partner with product and backend teams to ship high-quality web experiences.

The role requires on-site presence in San Jose, CA three days per week, a strong TypeScript/React background, and proven leadership in fast-growing, high-reliability environments.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years managing software engineering teams.
• Direct experience managing frontend/web/product engineering teams including hiring and performance management.
• Strong frontend background with TypeScript or Flow and modern web app architecture.
• Experience building production web applications with reliability, performance, and accessibility requirements.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and static analysis enforcement, and writing clean, maintainable code.
• Experience defining technical direction and driving execution through a team, including prioritization and roadmap ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow the Frontend team, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and team composition for a growing frontend organization.
• Define team goals, and technical roadmaps that align with company priorities.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and accessibility of frontend experiences for operators, customers, and internal users.
• Translate mission needs into clear requirements and technical specifications with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Drive engineering best practices including design reviews, code quality, testing, and observability.
• Manage team capacity, staffing, and growth, including hiring, coaching, and development.
• Promote a culture of technical ownership, continuous improvement, and pragmatic delivery.
• Build feedback loops with product and backend partners and end users, maintaining ownership boundaries.
