JOB TITLE: GUEST SERVICE ATTENDANT

Work Schedule: Varies with facility needs. Full-time or part-time positions, variable hours per week.

Breaks: Two breaks and one ½ hour lunch, depending on shift.

Overtime: As necessary

Machines Used: Office machines, tools, and equipment, desktop or laptop computer.

Skills & Abilities Required: Speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Bilingual a plus.

Description of Workplace/Workstation: The work takes place at various office locations within a hotel. Surfaces are level, carpeted, tiled, or have wood flooring. All work areas are well-lit and temperature controlled. The Guest Service Attendant may be exposed to weather conditions when moving between outdoor and indoor areas. Operation of a motor vehicle may be required.

Description of Job Tasks/Purpose: The Guest Service Attendant performs services for guests, including registering arrivals, assigning rooms, checking out guests, maintaining records, explaining charges, and processing payments. They represent the establishment and influence public perception through courteous and helpful interactions. Responsibilities include addressing guest issues, delivering necessities, and possibly additional duties like front office operations, bookkeeping, reservations, cashiering, and multi-line telephone operation.

Major Job Functions
  1. Provide high-quality service to customers at all times.
  2. Greet customers warmly and sincerely.
  3. Use guest names in interactions when possible.
  4. Respond promptly to guest concerns and requests.
  5. Know emergency and security procedures.
  6. Clean guestrooms to standards and perform basic maintenance.
  7. Operate laundry equipment and inform maintenance of needs.
  8. Wear proper uniform and maintain personal cleanliness.
  9. Practice safety standards consistently.
  10. Move items weighing up to 40 lbs; notify management if unable.
  11. Work varying schedules as needed.
  12. Maintain regular attendance.
  13. Check guests in and out efficiently and courteously.
  14. Post charges, collect payments, and balance cash and credit transactions.
  15. Promote hotel marketing programs.
  16. Record business data accurately in PMS.
  17. Develop knowledge of hotel staff, room locations, and local area.
  18. Handle reservations, switchboard, safe deposits, and guest inquiries.
  19. Maintain cleanliness of lobby and guest areas.
  20. Handle wake-up calls, shift opening/closing, and cash drops.
  21. Balance credit card and cash transactions and monitor for counterfeit bills.
  22. Report guest or system issues to management.
  23. Log relevant information and manage guest lost and found inquiries.
  24. Maintain office supplies and develop local knowledge for guest assistance.
  25. Send/receive faxes and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
