Job summary

Mercer University seeks a Director of Operations to lead front-of-house teams across The Grand Opera House, The Capitol Theatre, and Mercer Music at Capricorn. You will oversee guest services, bar operations, event rentals, and HO staff, ensuring a seamless guest experience during performances and events.

The role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication, and the ability to work evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Leadership and staff management experience in front-of-house operations.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Hospitality, Arts Admin or related field.
• High school diploma or GED with 3 years of venue ops or related experience.
• Five years of progressively responsible related experience, including event contracts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee front-of-house operations for Mercer venues including The Grand Opera House and The Capitol Theatre.
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise house managers, security, and bartenders.
• Manage guest services, bar operations, and event rentals.
• Coordinate with internal teams to support programming and venue utilization.
• Prepare estimates, contracts, and rental agreements; liaise with rental clients.
