Summary

The Front of House Manager supports the day-to-day operations of Front of House (FOH) services across all SJC Cultural Events, Inc. venues and festivals. This position works under the guidance of the Patron Services Director (aka FOH Director) to ensure a safe, smooth, and welcoming environment for patrons, volunteers, and staff. This role helps coordinate ticketing support, volunteer engagement, patron services, and event-day logistics. This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role designed to develop into a future senior leadership position within SJCCE.

On show days, the FOH Manager helps coordinate FOH operations from the stage forward, supporting functions such as ingress and egress, security coordination, vendor placement, and patron entry. The role actively supports VIP and client services, parking and shuttle logistics, merchandise vendors, food truck management, and coordination with public safety personnel. This position maintains visibility at events and responds to real-time operational needs as delegated by the FOH Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists with the execution of FOH operations for SJCCE events and festivals, ensuring high-quality patron experiences.
  2. Supports the Director in coordinating ticketing, volunteer assignments, and day-of logistics.
  3. Maintains strong customer service presence and addresses patron inquiries and concerns onsite.
  4. Helps implement FOH policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  5. Leads assigned FOH assistants, contracted ushers, and support staff as delegated.
  6. Collaborates with the Volunteer Manager on training, scheduling, and volunteer communication.
  7. Assists with ingress and egress planning and supports coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Works alongside public safety partners and municipal contacts during events.
  9. Participates in FOH setup and breakdown activities including signage, barricades, and hospitality areas.
  10. Serves as acting lead in the Director’s absence as appropriate.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position may supervise contracted FOH staff during shows and festivals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of venue logistics and operations, ingress and egress patterns, site layout, crowd control, industry terminology, and specialized equipment.
  • Knowledge of large venue production requirements and budgetary practices.
  • Proficiency in supervisory principles and practices.
  • Competency in planning, organizing, and directing personnel.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to lead in high-pressure environments and respond quickly to emergent situations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience required. Law enforcement experience strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in front of house, venue, or live event operation preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Work has some exposure to environmental changes (e.g., outdoor weather and/or field conditions, warehouses, garages, etc.) or irate customers, extreme noises, odors, heights and/or dust.
  • Regular sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day to accomplish tasks.
  • Manual and finger dexterity used regularly with some repetitive finger motions and required usage of both hands as needed.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision; able to identify colors, small letters and numbers; hand/eye coordination, depth perception and able to adjust focus.
  • This position may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may include completing and successfully passing medical evaluations or clearances.
  • Other conditions may include frequent reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, pinching, grasping, gripping, and crouching or stooping.

TRAVEL

Up to 20% of travel between St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra; travel may be sporadic.
