Job summary

The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston seeks a House Manager to lead front-of-house operations during performances, rentals, and events. You will supervise volunteers and staff, coordinate guest services, accessibility, safety, and emergency response to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

This role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with evening, weekend, and holiday availability.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in customer service, hospitality, audience services, venue operations, event management, or a related field preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience supervising staff, volunteers, or teams in a customer-facing environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions in time-sensitive situations.
• Customer service-focused approach and commitment to creating an exceptional guest experience.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead front-of-house manager for assigned performances, events, and facility rentals.
• Oversee audience operations for performances and events in multiple halls.
• Conduct pre-event briefings and ensure staff understand event procedures and accessibility needs.
• Monitor audience flow and seating operations for safe and efficient events.
• Foster hospitality by leading front-of-house staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional service.
• Respond to guest concerns and implement service recovery as needed.
• Ensure ADA compliance and accessibility standards including mobility assistance and seating.
