Responsibilities
Management
- Make employment-related and business decisions using independent judgment, including strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, and resolving partner-related issues.
- Manage staffing, training, and development within your department.
- Review financial and performance reports, identifying opportunities and issues.
- Conduct audits and follow up on findings related to Operational Review Team (ORT).
- Perform detailed store and/or department walks.
- Maintain work instructions and monitor inventory and DSD accounting.
- Foster ownership mentality across your department and the entire store.
- Create weekly schedules aligned with business needs.
- Operate effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Ensure proper inventory levels, order products, and perform quality checks.
- Participate in store leadership to align total store plans.
- Support leadership with a total store mindset.
Sales / Strategy
- Oversee operations in your focus area, monitoring craftsmanship, shrink, safety, and quality.
- Develop actionable plans and follow up on potential issues.
- Serve as a Brand Promise Champion.
Customer Service
- Build strong partner and customer relationships through collaboration, communication, and education.
- Promote superior customer service across departments.
- Identify and develop future talent.
- Engage actively with the community.
Department Focus Areas
Inventory Flow
- Manage center store inventory workflow, including receiving and shelf edge.
- Execute weekly center store merchandising plans.
- Organize and plan using daily forecasts to optimize inventory flow.
- Lead inventory flow team to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Front End
- Oversee overall front-end operations.
- Ensure efficient customer throughput and service quality.
- Ensure adherence to front-end procedures.
- Manage a large team effectively.
Market
- Oversee meat market operations.
- Ensure food safety and partner safety compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of meat cutting equipment, products, and techniques.
Produce / Bakery
- Manage produce and bakery operations.
- Implement production and merchandising plans to boost sales.
- Ensure food safety and partner safety standards are met.
Floor / Total Store
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and safety.
- Manage supplies, safety programs, sanitation, and pest control.
- Lead Store Recovery Team.
Candidate Background
- Completion of H-E-B's or JVSS's Management Training Program.
- Operational and retail management experience.
- Leadership in complex environments with multiple direct reports.
- Understanding of retail accounting, inventory, and shrink control.
- Leadership skills including ownership mentality, strategic planning, and adaptability.
- Interpersonal skills and flexibility to work nights and weekends.
Training Requirements
- Successful completion of JVSS or H-E-B School of Retail Management (SORM).
Physical & Work Environment
Physical requirements include lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, and standing for long periods. The environment involves moving mechanical parts, varying conditions, moderate noise, and a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities.
