Job Description
Receive and verify grocery vendor deliveries efficiently and accurately. Perform other functions in Produce, Point-of-Sale, and Receiving that contribute to the store’s financial interests. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant working and shopping environment.
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service by demonstrating sincerity, patience, and respect in all customer interactions and by thanking customers for their business.
- Greet customers in a genuine/friendly manner throughout the store; assist/escort them to products, perform price checks, load/unload heavy items, and help retrieve out-of-reach items.
- Effectively communicate with customers and respond to questions and requests in a timely manner.
- Operate equipment (e.g., pallet jack, box cutter, forklift, mop, broom) according to company guidelines.
- Assume responsibility for receiving area security and operating hours; control vendor traffic through Receiving.
- Monitor and report abnormal vendor actions and unauthorized customers/sales representatives in Receiving.
- Receive merchandise and verify deliveries for quality, count, and condition against invoices.
- Log irregularities, discrepancies, shortages, damaged shipments, and process credits; document vendor resolutions, post invoices, and store documents properly.
- Communicate problems that may affect the store or vendor integrity.
- Deliver products to storage/load areas; handle all products properly to reduce waste, manage damaged/spoiled products, rotate perishable merchandise, and remove out-of-code merchandise for credit, return, or disposal.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards; keep all areas clean and organized.
- Assist in responding to emergencies and safety hazards.
- Check and maintain equipment; report issues to the store director.
- Be knowledgeable of duties across departments.
- Notify store management of issues affecting operations or disciplinary matters.
- Comply with food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations; identify unsafe conditions and notify management; adhere to all relevant laws and policies.
- Physical demands include sitting, standing, handling objects, walking, talking/hearing, reaching, visual tasks, exposure to dust/chemical fumes, and temperature variations; occasionally climbing ladders, crouching, kneeling, and lifting up to 100 lbs.
