Job summary

Fry's Food Stores in Arizona seeks a Front-end department leader to deliver outstanding customer service, direct daily front-end operations, and uphold safety and quality standards. You will supervise associates, manage scheduling, monitor expenses, assist with budgeting and P/L reviews, and ensure adherence to company policies and local regulations.

Ideal candidates bring strong communication, math, and retail experience, with a proactive, hands-on approach to store operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
• Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make recommendations.
• Monitor and control supply expenses for the department.
• Manage cash control, sales and cash items and records for the store.
• Schedule front-end associates to provide adequate department coverage.
• Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget, P&L reviews, and take appropriate action on financial reports.
• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
• Responsible for entry-level store hiring.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Monitor and control expenses for the department.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note discrepancies.
• Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and signs.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity (robbery/theft/fraud).
• Oversee and manage efficient operations of all Front-end functions.
• Adhere to local, state, federal laws and company guidelines.
• Supervise and coach direct reports; conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
