Job summary

Food Lion in Suffolk, VA is hiring a Front End Associate to deliver fast, friendly service and uphold our customer service standards on the front line.

You will greet customers, operate the cash register, process payments, bag groceries, and assist with Food Lion To-Go orders when scheduled.

This role requires effective communication, reliability and the ability to perform multiple tasks in a busy store while following cash handling procedures and store guidelines.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Ability to perform cashier and service center duties.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service to customers.
• Greet customers and use their name whenever possible.
• Scan orders and handle the payment transaction, per standard practice.
• Follow cash handling procedures and overrides when needed.
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take their order to their car (To-Go when applicable).
• Maintain a neat and clean front-end area and restock as needed.
