Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Monona, WI seeks a friendly cashier/courtesy clerk to deliver outstanding customer service, greet customers, and assist with store needs.

You will process transactions, follow POS procedures, advise on products, uphold safety and cleanliness, and support the team in a fast-paced environment. Previous retail experience is helpful; must communicate clearly and handle stressful situations with integrity.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures) according to company policy.
• Adhere to the company's cash shortage/overage limits and work to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering product questions.
• Adhere to local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Handle conflicts in a calm, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
