Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Front-End Team Member to provide a smooth and friendly checkout experience, handle transactions, and keep the front end organized. You’ll rotate between scanning items, bagging groceries, and helping customers with questions, contributing to a positive visit every time.

The role requires basic math, strong communication, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Friendly, clear communication during checkout and customer assistance (must be able to greet and help customers)
• Accurate processing of purchases including cash, card, and digital payments
• Accurate scanning, pricing, produce codes, and order completion
• Basic math skills for cash handling, counting change, and balancing registers
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a steady workflow
• Assistance with bagging, cart retrieval, stocking, and front-end upkeep
• Recognizing and addressing pricing, transaction, or customer service questions
• Knowledge of store policies, register procedures, and checkout processes
• Comfort with changing tasks and customer flow during shifts
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities
