Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Front-End Team Member to help deliver a smooth checkout experience for customers. You will scan items, handle transactions, bag groceries, and answer questions with a friendly, efficient approach.

You’ll rotate between tasks, keep the front-end clean and organized, and support with cart retrieval, stocking, and other front-end duties. Flexibility for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Must be 16+ or 18+ depending on local/state requirements.
• Completion of company cashier or front-end training upon hire.
• Basic math and communication skills required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Prior customer service experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle transactions, bag groceries, and answer customer questions.
• Scan items, ensure accurate pricing, and complete orders.
• Maintain a clean, organized front-end area throughout the shift.
• Assist with cart retrieval, stocking, and general front-end upkeep.
• Follow store policies and checkout procedures while adapting to flow.
